What we do

Entrepreneurial marketing consultant Susan Fassberg launched ConnectingDotz after being told numerous times her ideas “didn’t fit easily into known sales categories.” Undaunted, she produces original creations and helps them find their footing (and yes, you can help by supporting stores who carry our wares). Cards, photos, and posters are just a start.

Passionate about languages (fluent in German, Spanish, French), Susan brings a cross-cultural mindset and a background in media to the Dotz enterprise. After years working in television, magazine and book publishing, Susan transitioned online as PR and Marketing Director for Salon.com and then Business Development Director for Ask Jeeves for Kids. Always keen to promote grassroots activism, years ago she launched the best-selling “50 Simple Things You Can Do to Save the Earth” and created the first nationally sold environmental gift basket company. More recently, she collaborated on an excellent progressive political handbook.

Susan serves on the Board of two non-profits: Rockwood Leadership Institute and Terralingua. Rockwood trains progressive leaders to be highly effective in their work and their collaborations. Terralingua works to protect the world's biological, cultural and linguistic diversity. Through innovative programs of research, education and policy advocacy, Terralingua highlights and nurtures the vital link between language, culture and all life forms.

A percentage of proceeds from sale of ConnectingDotz products
supports the work of non-profit organizations. Osani helps support The Pygmy Fund, and “In a Word” benefits Terralingua.

In spare moments, Susan practices Tai Chi, hikes, and crafts jewelry out of vintage buttons (brooches seen on this page, for example). In a flash, these candy-like creations morphed into stickers and wrapping paper (They might even show up here.)

ConnectingDotz is based in Berkeley, CA where Susan lives with her son, Benjamin. At 11, he’s creative consultant, and one of our tech guys. Ben uses his powers for good, as does his mom.
